Useful tips for your holiday with a dog
Zell am See is a lovely place to explore with your dog. You will find dog-waste bag dispensers along many walking routes. Bags are also available at reception – just ask us before you head out.
Keep your dog on a lead and follow local signs. Before using buses, trains or cable cars, check the operator’s rules for dogs, including any muzzle requirements and additional charges.
Discover the region together with your dog
Take a stroll along Lake Zell, enjoy the mountain scenery or discover the region’s walking and hiking trails together. The lakeside is just a few minutes’ walk from Hotel Glasererhaus.
In summer, choose a route that suits your dog’s fitness and take water with you. For a swim, use only areas where dogs are permitted and follow the signs on site.
In winter, explore suitable winter walking paths, depending on weather and trail conditions. In protected areas, stay on marked paths, keep your dog on a lead and respect wildlife.

Our tips for walks with your dog
- Lake Zell promenade: Start at the lakeside in the centre of Zell am See and follow the promenade. For a shorter walk, simply return along the same route. The full circuit takes you around the southern shore and along the lakeside road on the eastern side. It covers approximately 11 km and takes around 2½–3 hours. Official route information
- Dr. Müller Promenade: From Glasererhaus, head towards Schmittenstraße. The promenade starts near Hotel Stadt Wien, with a slightly steeper stretch before continuing past residential houses towards Einöd. Allow approximately 25 minutes for the 1.3 km route, plus extra time to return along the same path or via the lakeside promenade. Official route information
- Filzmoos Trail in Kaprun: Start on Schloßstraße. The trail leads past St. James’ Chapel and Kaprun Castle, through the protected landscape to the River Salzach. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the 1.4 km route, plus extra time to return along the same path. Please stay on the marked paths in the protected area and keep your dog on a lead.
